Appointment of Chairman of the Investor Education Centre

The Investor Education Centre (IEC) is pleased to announce that Dr Kelvin Wong, JP has been appointed as Chairman of the IEC with effect from 1 January 2017.


Dr Wong succeeds Professor Leonard Cheng who is stepping down following the end of his term as IEC Chairman since its establishment in 2012.


IEC General Manager, Mr David Kneebone, said: "We warmly welcome Dr Wong to the Board during this exciting period as we continue to raise public awareness and improve financial literacy in Hong Kong through The Chin Family. Dr Wong's rich experience in public service and corporate governance puts him in an excellent position to advance our financial literacy agenda working in close collaboration with stakeholders."


Mr Kneebone also expressed his gratitude to outgoing Chairman Professor Cheng for his contribution and support to the IEC over the past four years. "Under his leadership, a solid foundation has been built for IEC's partnership with government agencies and the finance, education and community sectors."


Dr Wong said, "I am delighted to take on this role to support the IEC in its charter to provide comprehensive, credible and impartial financial education resources to the Hong Kong people to help improve financial well-being."


"Being informed and having sufficient financial knowledge is an important life skill, and I hope that more parties will join us as we promote financial education widely."

Professor Leonard Cheng was appointed Chairman since IEC's establishment in 2012 and his term expired on 31 December 2016.
