Classes for kindergarten, primary and secondary have been suspended for a while since the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus. Whilst universities now offer online lectures, classes that need to be taught in person have been till postponed summer.

Though schools may be suspended at the moment, we can still make good use of the time at home to learn:

  1. Even if we are at home, don’t forget that there are online classes to attend and assignments due! To stay self-disciplined, make use of your mobile phone or diary to set up reminders for yourself.

  2. Stay fit and healthy by doing yoga, tabata or planking at home with the help of online videos or mobile apps.

  3. You may come across a lot of information about the pandemic that is circulating among social media and instant messages, but bear in mind that these could be fake news that can lead to fear and panic reactions. We should stay calm and objective as we check the facts and find out what the real experts are saying.

  4. While music and movies can help us relax, so can reading! Some of the world’s most successful people, such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett are avid readers. Reading can not only enrich us but help us to destress and stay grounded.

  5. Since you are home bound, why not take the initiative to see what chores need to be done around the house? This is the time to make our living environment more comfortable, neat and clean.

  6. If your finances are affected by the outbreak, be sure to keep a budget and exercise more prudence on spending expenses. Keep impulse spending in check as you can easily go overboard with online shopping and game purchases. Distinguish your “needs” and “wants”, and spend wisely.

No challenge is unconquerable. We can overcome the situation by maintaining good personal and household hygiene, as well as a positive mindset.
