World Investor Week 2025 launches to empower investors in the digital finance era

As the financial landscape rapidly evolves through technological innovation, investor education and financial literacy are more important than ever. The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) is committed to equipping investors with the knowledge, attitude and skills necessary to navigate the dynamic world of digital finance and investment.
In support of World Investor Week 2025, an initiative of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to promote investor education and protection, the IFEC was honoured to co-host the “Strike the Gong for Financial Literacy” event together with Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), the CFA Institute, and the CFA Society Hong Kong.
Strike the Gong for Financial Literacy
Mr Victor Dawes, Chairman of the IFEC, said in his keynote speech at the event, “The digital evolution reshapes how we invest, save and protect our wealth. While innovation unlocks opportunities, it also brings new challenges. In this environment, investor education and digital financial literacy are more critical than ever. The IFEC is dedicated to collaborating with our stakeholders to empower the public to navigate today’s dynamic markets by advancing investor education in Hong Kong, creating a safer and more informed investing environment for all."
Mr Gregory Yu, Head of Markets at HKEX, also shared his perspective, "At HKEX, we believe resilient markets are built on resilient investors. In today’s fast-evolving digital era, technology plays a pivotal role in shaping investment practices. By supporting financial literacy and empowering retail investors with the tools and insights to navigate both the opportunities and risks of innovation, we support investors to make more informed decisions."
Highlights of IFEC’s initiatives for World Investor Week 2025
- Investor education panel discussion: Themed “Investing in Emerging Technology: A Guide for Retail Investors”, representatives from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), HKEX, The Hong Kong Association of Banks, and the CFA Society Hong Kong discussed the opportunities and risks arising from advancements in financial technology, the application of financial technology including artificial intelligence in financial services, as well as its impact on investors.
