Mr David Kneebone, General Manager of IFEC, will be leaving Hong Kong in December 2019

I am leaving Hong Kong in late December 2019. I’ll leave grateful for being allowed to have an extraordinary experience over the last 5.5 years. It has been wonderful learning so much about a community new to me, but with such familiar ambitions and hopes.

Hong Kongers, like New Zealanders, have very similar goals and dreams. We want healthy children; stable families; good living conditions and to know that we can be cared for by others if the situation warrants extra support.

I must offer special thanks to the many IFEC friends I’ve made. It felt great seeing the list of stakeholders who joined us this month to petition government to include financial education in future school curricula. The 29 organisations include many that have contributed to IFEC’s advisory groups and committees. These are the people that always turn up if they can to a financial education event, as they see it as more than just another form of education. Many view the subject in 2019 as a basic need, a sentiment I completely agree with.

I wish you all well and I hope you continue to lead healthy and prosperous lives.

I’m returning to New Zealand to enjoy the embrace of my family and friends. I now have a new group of friends in Hong Kong and I look forward to returning often to say hello again.

Warm regards

David Kneebone
