Hong Kong Money Month 2021 Launched

 

Hong Kong Money Month (HKMM) is an annual territory-wide campaign spearheaded by IFEC and supported by Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, the Education Bureau, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Insurance Authority, Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and Securities and Futures Commission. By gathering efforts from different stakeholders in running and promoting investor and financial education, the goal is to raise the awareness among Hong Kong public on the importance and relevance of personal financial management in today’s digital age.

The theme this year, “Digital Finance 360°: Opportunities and Risks 數碼理財全面睇 洞悉危 • 機最實際”, focuses on digital and online money management, investing, scam prevention and cybersecurity topics. Among the many outcomes of the prevailing pandemic is accelerated digital transformation which affects almost all aspects of life, rendering digital financial literacy ever more important.

The IFEC Chairman, Mr Lester Huang, said at the launch ceremony, “The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation of financial services. While technology has enabled us to manage our personal finances with greater ease and convenience, it underpins the importance of digital financial literacy, and the need to counter the increasing threats from online frauds and cybercrimes.”
