Methodology of the Investment Behaviour Personality Quiz
This quiz was developed in partnership with an academic team from Hong Kong Shue Yan University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The University of Hong Kong. The quiz is based on the Big Five Personality Test (hereafter “Big5) which is a widely used tool to assess individual personality.
The team selected research papers that are related to the examination of relationships between Big5 and investment behaviour from different academic journal databases. Taxonomy development was conducted through forward and backward literature review and empirical-to-conceptual approach to identify five dimensions of common investment personality. The team studied the weighting between each dimension and Big5, and made further adjustment to come up with a formula to calculate the result of the quiz. After responding to the 10 questions of the quiz, a result which best matches with the user’s investment personality will be provided.
Through this fun and interactive quiz, we hope to help the public understand their investment personalities and potential behavioural biases. Corresponding analysis and smart tips are also provided to encourage proper investment behaviour. However, limited by the number of questions and the fact that some people may have more than one personality trait, the results are for reference and education purposes only, and cannot be considered as investment advice or substitutes for professional advice.
