IFEC welcomes appointment of new General Manager

The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) today announced that Ms Dora Li has been appointed as the General Manager of the IFEC with effect from 18 May 2020. Ms Li will succeed Mr David Kneebone who has stepped down for personal reasons.

Ms Li possesses over 20 years of extensive experience in the global banking industry, ranging from wealth management, sales and marketing and, in her previous role for 13 years, corporate sustainability, spearheading financial education in communities across the world. She has been the Convenor of the IFEC Advisory Group on Financial Education for Schoolchildren since 2018, and a member since 2015.

IFEC Chairman Mr Lester Huang said, “On behalf of the Board, I am excited to welcome Ms Li joining us on the journey to raise financial literacy in Hong Kong. Ms Li brings with her rich international experience on financial education and sustainability. Her passion to improve financial literacy makes her an ideal leader to build on the foundation of IFEC’s focus to enhance the financial well-being of the people of Hong Kong.”

Ms Li said, “Financial education is one of the key building blocks for any community, and even more important for Hong Kong, as one of the world’s top financial centres. I am honoured to be appointed as the General Manager of the IFEC. I look forward to working together with the IFEC team and collaborating with all our stakeholders to take financial literacy in Hong Kong to the next level.”

Prior to taking up this role, Ms Li was the Head of Futures Skills, Corporate Sustainability, Asia Pacific Region of HSBC, overseeing Future Skills strategy on financial literacy and employability in Hong Kong and 13 markets across Asia Pacific. She also had past global managerial work experience in HSBC’s head office in London, United Kingdom.
