The IFEC 10th Anniversary Education Seminar cum Investor and Financial Education Award Presentation Ceremony commends organisations and stakeholders supporting investor and financial education in Hong Kong

The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and has launched a series of investor and financial education tools and activities in a bid to help the Hong Kong public to cultivate good financial management habits to get prepared for different challenges, enhancing their financial resilience. 

Education Seminar featuring speakers from FSTB, SFC and IFEC

As part of the celebration, the IFEC 10th Anniversary Education Seminar cum Investor and Financial Education Award Presentation Ceremony was held yesterday (29 November 2022).

Mr Joseph Chan, the Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Tim Lui, Chairman of Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and Mr Victor Dawes, Chairman of IFEC shared their personal investment and financial management experience with the audience to reinforce the importance of starting early in financial management and reiterated the essential need to foster good financial management habits in order to achieve life goals.

Mr Joseph Chan, the Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury said, “With the robust and world-class regulatory regime, Hong Kong is a resilient and dynamic international financial centre open to a wide range of economic activities. While embracing different financial products and technologies, we recognise the importance of investor and financial education so that the public will be well-equipped when facing different financial challenges.”

Mr Tim Lui, the SFC’s Chairman said, “Hong Kong financial market has become increasingly diversified over the past decade in terms of product offerings and investment platforms. As a financial regulator in an international financial centre, the SFC recognises the importance of raising financial literacy and helping investors make informed financial decisions. The SFC will continue to provide full support to the IFEC in providing quality investor and financial education.”

Thirty-one organisations and individuals received IFEA awards

At the event, the IFEC announced the results of the Investor and Financial Education Awards 2022 (IFEA), which recognises the contributions made by stakeholders from various sectors to help enhance investor and financial education for the people in Hong Kong. A total of 31 organisations and individuals were awarded for their outstanding contributions on their excellent work on investor and financial education. Click here for the results.

Mr Victor Dawes, Chairman of IFEC, said, “IFEC is dedicated to advance investor and financial education for the people in Hong Kong. With the ever-changing landscape of financial products and trends, we will continue to equip the public with relevant and up-to-date information on investment risks and knowledge to help enhance their financial well-being.
