The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Chew Fook Aun, Non-Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), as Chairman of the IFEC with effect from 1 August 2026¹ .

Mr Chew will succeed Mr Victor Dawes, who will complete his term on 31 July 2026. The appointment was made by the SFC, of which the IFEC is a subsidiary.

Mr Chew said, “I am honoured to assume the role of IFEC Chairman and would like to express my sincere appreciation to Mr Victor Dawes for his pivotal contributions to advancing investor and financial education in Hong Kong. I am pleased to collaborate closely with the IFEC team and stakeholders to further promote financial literacy and strengthen Hong Kong’s financial competitiveness.”

IFEC General Manager Ms Dora Li said, “The IFEC team is deeply grateful to Mr Victor Dawes for his leadership. Under his stewardship, the IFEC advanced digital transformation and made significant contributions to enhancing financial literacy in Hong Kong. We warmly welcome Mr Chew Fook Aun as our new Chairman and look forward to working with the Board to enhance the community’s financial well-being.”

The IFEC also announced the appointment of Ms Grace Lau as Director of the IFEC for a term of three years, with effect from 29 June 2026. Ms Lau is currently the Executive Director (Corporate Services) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Mr Chew added, “On behalf of the IFEC, I welcome Ms Grace Lau to the Board. Her experience in corporate governance and regulatory affairs will provide the Board with profound insights. I also wish to convey my appreciation to the outgoing directors, Mr Christopher Cheung² and Mr Archie Ng³ , for their valuable contributions to the IFEC’s investor and financial education initiatives.”
