Artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced a wide range of fully automated services and driving automation in financial services.
As AI technologies continue to advance, its integration into financial services becomes more prevalent. Investors may have interacted with chatbots or virtual assistants, read securities research reports and market analyses generated by generative AI, or utilized AI-driven wealth management and trading services such as robo-advisers, algorithmic trading and copy trading.
Engaging with AI
Given the abundance of available information, investors can swiftly access a variety of investment-related information and knowledge by engaging with AI tools.
Although AI appears to have boundless knowledge, investors should not assume that AI-generated content is always trustworthy or accurate. It is prudent to approach such information with a critical mindset and continue to exercise independent judgment and analysis.
When interacting with AI, investors should keep the following consideration in mind:
- Due to factors such as limited diversity and representativeness in the data used to train AI models, as well as inherent limitations within the models themselves, AI-generated content may sometimes be inaccurate or biased.
- AI has introduced many innovative and automated financial services. Before using these services, investors should ensure they fully understand how these services function and carefully assess whether they align with their own investment needs, objectives and risk tolerance.
- When it comes to investment-related content, such as market analysis, product information, investment strategies and investment advice, investors should evaluate whether it is suitable for their own situation and avoid accepting it uncritically.
AI offers investors more automated financial services, helping them manage personal investments and wealth. However, investors must also be vigilant against AI-related fraud, social engineering attacks, and cybercrime. Fraudsters can exploit AI to produce convincing deepfake videos and images, spread misinformation, and deceive investors.
