IFEC welcomes appointment and re-appointment of Directors

The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Christina Yu and the re-appointment of Ms Clara Shek as Directors for a term of three years from 19 October 2024.

The appointments were made by the Securities and Futures Commission, of which the IFEC is a subsidiary of.

Mr Victor Dawes, Chairman of IFEC said, “I would like to extend a warm welcome to Professor Yu. Her extensive knowledge in investor and financial education will enrich the diversity of the IFEC Board. Professor Yu has been advocating financial literacy through teacher training and research, together with her strong background in the education profession, she will bring invaluable insights to the Board in enhancing our efforts to foster a more financially literate community.” With over 30 years of teaching experience, Professor Yu is currently a Professor (Practice) in the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong.

Mr Dawes added, “On behalf of IFEC, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to outgoing Director Dr Rex Auyeung for his exceptional contributions to IFEC over the years. During Dr Auyeung’s six-year tenure¹, his broad experience in financial markets, combined with his chairmanship of the Financial Education Coordination Committee, has fostered cross-sectoral stakeholder support to enhance financial literacy across different segments with significant impact.”

The IFEC will continue to benefit from Ms Shek’s expertise in branding and communications in the next three years.

¹The term of Dr Auyeung ended on 18 October 2024.
