Artificial intelligence (AI) is being adopted more widely than even, and even fraudsters are leveraging AI to commit crimes. To safeguard our wealth against these threats, it is essential to educate ourselves about AI and remain alert to its potential exploitation.

Video and Audio Forgery

Scammers may use AI to clone a person’s appearance and voice and create highly convincing videos or sound clips to win victims’ trust. In recent years, popular scams, such as relationship investment scams and impersonations of celebrities or investment experts, have in some cases incorporated AI technologies to make it easier to lure people into falling victim.

In the era of AI, what we see may not be real. Therefore, it is important to stay alert to and verify information on social media, especially materials related to money and investments.

Do Not Trust AI Blindly

AI seems to know everything. Many people turn to AI when they have questions. While AI is a convenient tool, it is important to carefully consider the accuracy and reliability of the information it provides.

Due to various reasons, such as a lack of diversity or representation in the data used to train AI models, along with inherent limitations of AI models, AI-generated content can be inaccurate or even biased.

When it comes to investment-related content, like market analysis, product information, investment strategies and advice, investors should evaluate the suitability of such information rather than trusting it blindly. Instead of focusing on accuracy and investor’s best interests, such content may only try to persuade or engage the readers.

AI can assist us in making investment decisions, but it can never replace independent research and well-informed, sound judgement.
