World Investor Week 2026
Invest in Your Future, Protect It Today

Resilience is an essential quality in investment, helping investors navigate various opportunities and challenges.
Investment resilience is developed, not inherent. Adhering to investment discipline and balancing portfolio risks can help build investment resilience. This quality enables us to withstand various adverse investment conditions and to recover quickly. It also empowers us to approach diverse investment opportunities with confidence and composure.
Moreover, investors should remain vigilant against financial scams to enhance their resilience. Scammers keep coming up with new tactics, including artificial intelligence (AI), that catch people off guard.
Strike the Gong for Financial Literacy
IFEC co-hosted the Strike the Gong for Financial Literacy event alongside HKEX, the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Hong Kong on 13 October 2026, in support of the World Investor Week.
Dr Kelvin Wong, Chairman of the SFC, and Mr Carlson Tong, Chairman of HKEX, officiated the event and delivered keynote speeches. Representatives from the SFC, HKEX, the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, and the CFA Society Hong Kong participated in the panel discussion titled “Strengthening Investor Resilience in the Era of Technology Advancement”. The panel discussion explored emerging investment opportunities and risks, technology-driven challenges, and the importance of artificial intelligence literacy.
Virtual Workshop on Investor Resilience
In June 2026, International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) on Retail Investors held a virtual workshop on the theme of investor resilience.
Professor Eric Chui, Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Applied Social Sciences and Co-Director of the Policy Research Centre for Innovation and Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Miles Larbey, Head of Financial Consumer Protection, Education and Inclusion Unit at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development; and Andrea Sticha, Research Director at Stanford University’s Initiative for Financial Decision Making, delivered presentations during the workshop. The following are the key highlights from their presentations.
Key Points for Building Investor Resilience
Building Investor Resilience from an Early Age
The following pointers help young investors develop their resilience from an early stage.

- Recognise the risks of investing associated with social media, including finfluencers, viral investment trends, and AI-generated content targeting younger audiences.
