IFEC and HYAB jointly launch
Financial Education Programme for young adults
Programme details
The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC), in partnership with the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB), have launched the Financial Education Programme for young adults. The programme aims to enhance financial knowledge of the young adults and induce the right attitude and behaviour for them to confidently manage their investments and finances, helping them to achieve their financial goals, and in turn, realise their personal dreams.
The Programme sets to take place in five selected youth hostels under the Youth Hostels Scheme of the HYAB, providing hostel residents with financial management training and tailored investor and financial education resources to help them set financial goals and enhance their investment and financial management practices.
The programme will span a year and encompass three main themes: Financial Planning, Investment Basics, and Credit and Risks. With an increasing interest of young adults in investment, the programme will emphasise on the importance of proper attitude and behaviour towards investment and financial matters by educating young adults on the theme of Financial Planning and Investment Basics, which covers the topics of investment risks, opportunities, and planning, as well as wealth management. Meanwhile, the topic on Credit and Risks aims to equip them with fundamental credit concepts, including the cost of borrowing and the ability to repay, as well as its role in cash flow needs at various life stages, such as furthering education or starting a business, and how to use it properly.
The above themes will be delivered in fun and interactive ways by speakers with motivational life experiences to share their own stories with young adults about financial planning. Regular digital newsletters and simulated interactive games will be provided to enable them keep abreast of the latest investor and financial education information and tools, as well as deepen their learnings.
