Companies applying to list under the Specialist Technology Companies listing regime may include pre-commercial companies, being companies that cannot meet the minimum revenue requirement for commercial companies at the time of listing, i.e. HK$250 million for the most recent audited financial year (Commercialisation Revenue Threshold). They are primarily engaged in R&D and may have yet to commercialise their specialist technology products or services. Compared to commercial companies, the investment risks of pre-commercial companies are relatively high.

A stock marker (the suffix “P”) will be added to the stock short name of a pre-commercial company for easy identification.
