Two ways to check how many MPF personal accounts you have

MPF

MPF accounts from previous jobs may be overlooked. If you have changed jobs a few times, you will probably have several MPF personal accounts. Knowing that the more accounts you own, the more complicated it is to manage them, you should really take action and consolidate your accounts.

To consolidate your MPF accounts, you must first know the name of the schemes and the relevant account numbers. This information is generally printed in the documents you receive from your MPF trustees. Alternatively, you can directly check with your trustees. However, many people may not know the number of MPF accounts they have, let alone who their trustees are. The following two methods can help you find out how many MPF personal accounts you have.

Method 1: e-Enquiry of Personal Account

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) offers the e-Enquiry of Personal Account service (ePA). You may visit its ePA website or use the mobile application to register as an ePA service user. To protect the personal data of scheme members, verification of identity by the MPFA after online application is required and scheme members may choose to:

  • provide copies of Hong Kong identity card and recent proof of residential address (within three months) for identity verification upon online application and activate the account; or
  • visit one of the MPFA offices for identity verification by presenting the Hong Kong identity card and activate the account.

You only need to apply for the ePA service once. Upon successful application, you may look up your MPF personal accounts via ePA at any time.

Method 2: Filling out the Personal Account Information Enquiry Form

You may also visit the MPFA website to download the “Personal Account Information Enquiry Form”. The completed form and copies of ID document can be mailed, faxed or be handed in personally to the MPFA for processing.

Please note that MPFA can only provide you with the number of personal accounts held by you, as well as the name and telephone number of the trustee with which each of your personal account is maintained. The Personal Account Register of the MPFA does not contain detailed information of the personal accounts, such as account number, account balance, records of contribution, etc. You should contact the relevant trustees after you have found out who maintains your accounts.
